IKEA Richmond Refurbishment Project
IKEA Richmond was committed to maintaining sustainability as a core fundamental in their 2017 store refurbishment.
Driven to ensure that sustainability was interwoven in the renovation and development of the refurbishment project, some 85 per cent of construction material was recycled, balancing economic growth with environmental protection.
IKEA Richmond sought to produce more energy than they consumed, using 2364 solar panels and a carbon-free solar hot water system, energy saving appliances and a drive to use renewable and recycled resources as efficiently as possible. The refurbishment project is promoting their sustainability philosophy across the organisation – the store now offers sustainability tours and aims to help customers, staff and community to be able to live a sustainable life at home.
